Black Stars coach Otto Addo brought some humor to his recent press conference while announcing his 25-man squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. Ghana is set to face Sudan in a double-header, first hosting the Falcons of Jediane on October 10 at the Accra Sports Stadium before playing them again four days later.
While most of the attention was on the squad selection, Addo lightened the mood by sharing a funny story about his late grandmother’s admiration for veteran journalist Kwabena Yeboah. The Ghana coach revealed that his grandmother, who passed away years ago, always found Yeboah to be quite handsome.

Addo smiled as he recalled, “Maybe a little side story, but my grandmother, who passed away a long time ago, was a big admirer of you. She was always like, ‘who is this handsome guy?’”
Kwabena Yeboah, a respected figure in sports journalism for over 30 years, is the president of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG). His charm clearly left an impression not just on Addo’s grandmother but also on many across Ghana.
In a more serious moment, Yeboah offered some advice to Addo, cautioning him about Sudan’s coach, James Kwasi Appiah. Appiah, a former Black Stars coach himself, has a deep understanding of Ghanaian football, which could make the matches even more challenging for the Black Stars.
