‘Stop doing TikTok videos and focus on Barcelona’ – Charles Taylor Advises David Oduro to Focus on Football, Not TikTok

‘Stop doing TikTok videos and focus on Barcelona’ - Charles Taylor Advises David Oduro to Focus on Football, Not TikTok

Ghana Premier League legend Charles Taylor has advised new Barcelona signee David Oduro to focus on making it into the first team rather than spending time on social media. This comes after a TikTok video of Oduro, where he discussed the pressure of training with Barcelona B, went viral.

Taylor urged Oduro to prioritize his football career and be determined to break into the senior team, instead of just being proud of playing for Barcelona B.

“You shouldn’t have the mentality that you are playing for Barcelona B, that’s it. The Barcelona B team is even more difficult. It’s challenging because they rely on the B team for quality players for the first team,” Taylor said in an interview with Angel TV.

The five-time Ghana Premier League champion expressed happiness for Oduro’s achievement but emphasized the importance of staying focused. “We are all happy they have joined Barcelona, but we want to see them playing for the first team. They should stop making videos at this stage and remain focused because that is the most important thing,” he added.

Taylor also reflected on how some Ghanaian players fail to make the most of their opportunities in Europe, using former Ghana U-17 captain Christian Sarbah as an example. “I will use Christian Sarbah as an example. He played for Bayern but never made it to the first team. Bayern promoted Osei Kuffour, but Sarbah was satisfied with just playing for the youth team. That’s a mistake.”

Oduro’s Viral TikTok

David Oduro recently shared a TikTok video discussing the pressure of playing with Barcelona’s youth team. He explained that training with the first team felt easier as there was less pressure compared to the intensity of the youth team.

“Training with the first team is good because there is no pressure. The youth can press you, and I go in hard on them. What I meant is that training with the first team and second team is different,” Oduro explained in the video.

Oduro joined Barcelona’s youth side, Barça Atlètic, earlier this year after impressing during trials. His contract runs until June 2027. However, as Charles Taylor advises, the young left-back’s focus should remain on breaking into the senior team and maximizing his potential at one of the biggest clubs in the world.
