Antoine Semenyo: “I’m Fresh and Ready” After International Break

Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo has shared how he spent the recent international break, revealing he took the chance to relax and recharge for the busy season ahead.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the 24-year-old explained that he used the two-week break to rest his body after a demanding period of games. Semenyo traveled to South-Western Europe for a short vacation, taking time to unwind and recover.

“Just relaxed the body, really,” he said. “I went away to Iberia to take the time out to relax, rest the body from all the tough games, from all the running around, and just get some downtime for myself. Body feels fresh and ready to go again.”

Semenyo had earlier withdrawn from the Ghana squad for the final Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) stated that Semenyo was dealing with a patella tendon issue caused by an overload of games.

Without Semenyo, the Black Stars struggled in the qualifiers, drawing 1-1 with Angola in Luanda on November 15 and losing 2-0 to Niger in Accra three days later. Ghana finished at the bottom of Group F with three points, while Angola and Sudan secured their spots in the AFCON tournament set to take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

Despite missing out on international duty, Semenyo has been in excellent form for AFC Bournemouth in the English Premier League. He has already bagged four goals and one assist in 11 league appearances this season. His impressive performances earned him the Cherries’ Player of the Month and Goal of the Month awards.

Semenyo is also making waves as one of the league’s best dribblers, ranking third for successful dribbles behind fellow Ghanaians Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Mohammed Kudus.

As Bournemouth prepares to face Brighton & Hove Albion at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday at 3 PM, Semenyo’s fans will be excited to see if his refreshed energy can spark another standout performance.
