Former France international Emmanuel Petit has claimed that Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti and several players were not in favor of signing Kylian Mbappe during the summer transfer window.
Mbappe’s move to Madrid followed one of football’s longest transfer sagas, but since joining, the 25-year-old has faced challenges.

With eight goals in 16 games, he has struggled to settle into his new role.
Reports suggest Mbappe prefers playing on the left wing, but that spot is firmly held by Vinicius Jr. Ancelotti, it seems, has no intention of prioritizing Mbappe over the Brazilian star.
Petit, speaking to Casino Hawks, believes Ancelotti was content with his squad after winning both La Liga and the Champions League and didn’t want a major shake-up.

“Carlo Ancelotti and several Real Madrid players didn’t want the club to sign Kylian Mbappe in the summer,” Petit said. “This was a team that had just won big trophies, and his arrival has only caused problems.
“When you win trophies, you build harmony, and bringing in players with big egos can disrupt that.
Mbappe now faces the challenge of competing with Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham, both of whom also aspire to be the best and win the Ballon d’Or.”
Mbappe was briefly linked with a move to Liverpool before choosing Madrid. While Petit doesn’t think Liverpool would have been a better choice, he has urged the Frenchman to prove himself.
“It’s too early to say if Mbappe would’ve been better off at Liverpool,” Petit continued. “He needs to show the same strength and consistency as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
He must prove he has the character and mental toughness to overcome these challenges and thrive on the pitch.”
Mbappe’s Madrid journey is still in its early days, but the pressure is mounting. Fans and critics alike will be watching to see if he can rise to the occasion and prove his worth in one of football’s toughest environments.
