Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah has confirmed that he’s open to switching his national team allegiance from England to Ghana.
Despite making his debut for the Three Lions, the 25-year-old striker is now considering playing for the country of his roots.
Born in England to Ghanaian parents, Nketiah has been on the radar of the Ghana Football Association for years. In 2022, his visit to Ghana for a vacation fueled rumors that he was leaning towards representing the West African nation.
Reports even suggested that he had acquired a Ghanaian passport, but those talks died down after he received a call-up to the England squad last September.
Though Nketiah didn’t play in the Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine or the friendly against Scotland, he finally made his debut for England a month later, coming on as a second-half substitute in a friendly against Australia.
However, with limited opportunities to play for England since then, Nketiah has now revealed that he’s open to representing Ghana.
In a recent interview on the Beautiful Game podcast, Nketiah shared his thoughts on the matter: “Obviously, my parents are both Ghanaians, and I’m from a Ghanaian heritage.
It’s a possibility, I’m open to both, whether that’s playing for Ghana or England.”

Meanwhile, Nketiah is on the verge of leaving Arsenal to join Crystal Palace in a deal worth up to £30 million.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the move is all but confirmed, with Nketiah set to complete his medical tests soon. The deal reportedly includes a £25 million fixed fee plus £5 million in add-ons.
As Nketiah prepares for a new chapter in his club career, his international future remains undecided.
Whether he ends up playing for Ghana or continues with England, the decision will undoubtedly be a significant one for his career.
