Mohamed Salah is embracing life under Liverpool’s new manager, Arne Slot, as the Dutchman begins to make his mark at Anfield.
After taking over from Jurgen Klopp earlier this summer, Slot has guided Liverpool to a strong start in the Premier League with two consecutive wins against Ipswich Town and Brentford.
Salah, who played a crucial role during Klopp’s successful reign, has already scored twice in the opening games of the season and is adjusting well to Slot’s fresh approach.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Salah opened up about the changes under Slot. “It’s been a big change,” Salah said.
“I had been with Jurgen for seven or eight years, but now with the new manager there are different things. I enjoyed it before and I’m enjoying it now.”
Slot has introduced a new style of play at Liverpool, one that focuses more on controlling the game rather than the high-intensity counter-pressing that Klopp was known for. Salah explained, “We play a different kind of football now.
The manager wants to control the ball all the time—with Jurgen, sometimes we’d just go counter-press and try to attack all the time in their half.
But now we need to control the game, sometimes slow things down because that’s part of the plan, and that’s a big difference.”
As Slot begins to shape a new era at Liverpool, questions about Salah’s future have started to arise, especially with the transfer window nearing its end.
The Egyptian star, now 32, was the subject of a huge £150 million offer from Saudi Arabia last summer. With his current contract set to expire next year, speculation is growing about what lies ahead for Salah.
When asked about his contract situation, Salah remained focused on the present. “I don’t think much [about the future], to be fair.
I think, with time, a bit more wisdom I would say. I just came before the season and I was just like, ‘I’ve got one year left so let’s just enjoy it and don’t think about the contract now.’”
Salah continued, “[I] don’t think about anything and I really just enjoy it. I don’t want to think about next year. I don’t want to think about the future, just ‘OK, let’s enjoy the last year [of my contract] and we’ll see.’ The most important thing is to take one day at a time and just be grateful to be here.”
As Liverpool fans watch their team transition under Slot, Salah’s words offer reassurance that he’s fully committed to the present.
With his talent and experience, Salah remains a key player as Liverpool aims for success this season. And while his future may be uncertain, his focus on enjoying the moment could lead to even greater things on the pitch.
