Ghanaian football fans were left furious following the Black Stars’ shocking 1-0 loss to Angola in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The defeat at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday triggered chaos, with some supporters storming the pitch and destroying stadium property.
Fans React to First Home Loss in 24 Years
The Black Stars were handed their first defeat at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium since 2000, a streak that had lasted for 24 years.
The match was a frustrating one for Ghana, with a late goal in the 94th minute from Angola’s Milson sealing the victory for the visitors.
The winning goal came after Ghanaian defender Abdul Mumin failed to clear the ball, allowing Milson to pounce and score.
Following the final whistle, a group of angry fans entered the pitch, damaging advertising boards and panels.
Videos circulating on social media showed the supporters expressing their frustration by throwing objects and hurling water bottles onto the field.

Black Stars’ Struggles Continue
Ghana coach Otto Addo had fielded a strong starting line-up, with Lawrence Ati Zigi in goal and a solid back four featuring Alidu Seidu, Tariq Lamptey, Mohammed Salisu, and Abdul Mumin.
In midfield, captain Thomas Partey partnered with Elisha Owusu, while Jordan Ayew, fresh off a hat-trick against the Central African Republic, was pushed to the left wing.
Abdul Fatawu Issahaku took the right flank, while Mohammed Kudus supported striker Antoine Semenyo upfront.
Despite this strong team, the Black Stars struggled to break down Angola’s defense and create clear chances.
Although Ghana dominated possession in parts of the game, their final ball was often lacking, leaving them unable to convert opportunities into goals.
Ghana’s Group F Position in Jeopardy
The defeat has dropped Ghana to third place in Group F, trailing behind Angola and Sudan, who also secured a win over Niger.
With crucial points at stake, the Black Stars will need to regroup and perform better in their next AFCON qualifier against Niger on Monday if they want to keep their qualification hopes alive.
