Javier Tebas Backs Vinicius Jr for Ballon d’Or Glory

Javier Tebas Backs Vinicius Jr for Ballon d’Or Glory

In a recent media appearance, La Liga president Javier Tebas expressed his belief that Real Madrid’s winger, Vinicius Jr., deserves to win the Ballon d’Or this year.

This endorsement comes despite previous disagreements between the two, particularly regarding Vinicius’ stance on La Liga’s response to racism.

Tebas Praises Vinicius’ Talent

Although Tebas and Vinicius haven’t always seen eye to eye, the La Liga president has never held back in praising the Brazilian’s skill on the field.

During the media session, Tebas once again emphasized Vinicius’ incredible ability, stating, “Vinicius is a different player. He deserves it.”

Vinicius, now 24, has been a standout performer for Real Madrid, consistently delivering impressive performances.

Despite their past tensions, Tebas clearly recognizes the winger’s star quality and believes that he is more than worthy of the prestigious Ballon d’Or award.

Carvajal’s Chances Are Slim

When asked about Dani Carvajal’s chances of winning the Ballon d’Or, especially after his recent Euro win with Spain, Tebas didn’t seem as optimistic.

He acknowledged Carvajal’s achievements but was realistic about his chances. “It is more difficult for Carvajal to win the Ballon d’Or than Vinicius, who I have said for a long time is a star,” Tebas said.

This comment highlights the immense competition Carvajal faces, not only from his Real Madrid teammate but also from other top players across Europe.

Real Madrid Players in the Running

Real Madrid currently boasts six players nominated for the Ballon d’Or, with Vinicius and Carvajal being joined by Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde, Antonio Rudiger, and Kylian Mbappe.

Even the recently retired Toni Kroos is considered in the mix, making it seven potential winners from the Madrid squad.

However, according to Tebas, the real competition is between Vinicius and Manchester City’s Rodri, who has also had a fantastic season. Yet, the La Liga chief remains firm in his belief that the Brazilian winger is the one who should claim the Golden Orb.

As the football world waits for the final verdict, Tebas’ backing may just give Vinicius the confidence boost he needs in his quest for the Ballon d’Or.
