Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, has strongly responded to the rumors and negative stories surrounding his future at the club. Ahead of their important Premier League match against Brentford this weekend, Ten Hag has addressed the media, accusing them of spreading “fairytales, lies, and noise.”
United have had a tough start to the season, currently sitting 14th in the league with just two wins from seven games and only five goals scored.
However, Ten Hag remains confident that things will improve. He mentioned that despite what the media says, things are “quiet and composed” behind the scenes under Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos, who now manage the football side of the club.
In his pre-match interview, Ten Hag didn’t hold back: “The noise is coming from some of you in the media, creating stories and fairytales, and bringing lies,” he said. He admitted that the team isn’t happy with their current position but assured fans that they are sticking to their plan and are confident it will lead to success.
Ten Hag also spoke about the challenges the team has faced, including injuries to several key players. He believes the team is heading in the right direction despite their current place in the table, stating, “Underneath, I see good things and good stats that confirm we are moving forward.”
Unfortunately for United, injuries continue to be an issue. Ten Hag provided updates on several players, revealing that Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire will be unavailable for the Brentford game.
There was some positive news, however, as Noussair Mazraoui is expected to return to action. The manager also gave updates on defenders Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, emphasizing that the club is being cautious with their recovery.
“We can’t rush their return,” Ten Hag said. “We need them back as soon as possible, but we don’t want to bring them back too quickly and lose them again.”
On another note, Ten Hag was asked about England’s appointment of Thomas Tuchel as their new manager, to which he responded: “I think it’s a great choice. He is a top-class manager who has proven himself, and England has the players to win big championships.”
As Manchester United prepares to face Brentford at Old Trafford, this game could be crucial for Ten Hag to prove that he is the right man to lead the club forward. Fans will be hoping to see a much-needed win and a turning point in their season.
