Manchester United’s Injury Woes Deepen as Will Fish Suffers Setback in Pre-Season Friendly

Manchester United’s injury concerns have worsened after young defender Will Fish was stretchered off during their pre-season friendly against Liverpool.

Fish, who came on as a half-time substitute alongside Rhys Bennett, had his game cut short less than 30 minutes after coming on.

This injury adds to United’s growing list of defensive setbacks, following the news that new signing Leny Yoro will be sidelined for three months.

Yoro, who was signed for £58.9 million, sustained his injury during United’s opening game of their U.S. tour against Arsenal.

With Fish also out, the need for additional cover at centre-back has become more pressing.

Fish’s injury is particularly unfortunate as he was already in doubt for the pre-season tour after picking up a knock in an earlier friendly against Rosenborg.

Despite recovering in time to be included in the squad, his final appearance was cut short due to a blow to his ankle.

As Fish was carried off the pitch on a stretcher, with his right leg secured in a protective boot, manager Erik ten Hag personally checked on the young defender.

This incident has highlighted United’s potential need to sign another centre-back before the transfer window closes.

United’s pre-season preparations have been disrupted by these injuries, and the club is now likely to explore further options to strengthen their defense ahead of the new season.
