Renowned sports journalist and business consultant Dr. Ernest Koranteng has sparked a huge debate by declaring that Ghana’s Mohammed Kudus is just as good as Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior, as well as Liverpool’s star man Mohamed Salah.
According to Dr. Koranteng, the 24-year-old West Ham midfielder possesses the same level of talent and ability as these global superstars, despite his current dip in form.
Kudus’ Form Dips After Breakout Season
Kudus made a name for himself at Ajax and during Ghana’s 2022 World Cup campaign, proving to be one of Africa’s most exciting talents.
His debut season at West Ham saw him hit 14 goals and 6 assists across the Premier League and Europa League, raising expectations for an even bigger impact this season.
However, things haven’t gone according to plan. With just 3 goals and 1 assist in 22 league appearances, Kudus has struggled to replicate last season’s brilliance.
His dip in form has raised concerns, with some linking it to West Ham’s managerial shake-up, as Graham Potter took over from Julen Lopetegui.
Dr. Koranteng Backs Kudus to Bounce Back
Despite his struggles, Dr. Koranteng remains convinced that Kudus will soon return to his best, especially with Ghana’s crucial FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar on the horizon.
Speaking to TV3 Sports, he boldly stated:
“Kudus is as talented, gifted, and dangerous as Mbappé, Vini Jnr, and Salah. These players have got nothing on him.”
Dr. Koranteng emphasized that every top player faces challenges at some point, but great players always find a way back.
“Every great player experiences a dip in form at both club and international level. Whatever Kudus has been going through has an expiry date. I challenge him to reclaim his place among the best.”
What’s Next for Kudus?
With Ghana missing out on AFCON 2025, Kudus has a huge opportunity to redeem himself in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
A strong showing in these games could be the spark he needs to regain confidence and prove why he belongs at football’s top table.
As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Kudus to see if he can rise to the challenge and remind the world why he was once tipped as one of Africa’s finest young stars.
