Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma has found himself in hot water just days before the new Premier League season kicks off, after footage emerged of him inhaling nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas.
The incident has sparked concern among fans and club officials alike.
Bissouma’s Night Out
The £55,000-a-week star was filmed inhaling the gas from a balloon during a night out in North London, following Spurs’ final pre-season match against Bayern Munich.
In the video, Bissouma can be seen laughing uncontrollably as he takes hits from the balloon inside a chauffeur-driven limo with friends.
Shockingly, the footage was shared by Bissouma himself on Snapchat, leaving fans and club officials baffled by his actions.
Legal and Health Risks
Nitrous oxide, often referred to as “hippy crack,” was made illegal last year in the UK when used with the intent to get high. Repeat offenders can face up to two years in jail and an unlimited fine.
The use of the gas is not only illegal but also carries serious health risks, including brain disorders, depression, memory loss, and nerve damage.
Bissouma has since apologized for his actions, acknowledging the gravity of the situation and the health risks associated with nitrous oxide.
He expressed regret over his “severe lack of judgment” and emphasized his responsibility as a professional footballer and role model.

The incident has understandably upset Tottenham fans and management. A witness described the midfielder’s actions as “utterly brainless,” while Spurs’ new boss Ange Postecoglou is likely to be furious.
The club has confirmed that they are investigating the matter internally and will deal with the situation accordingly.
This isn’t the first time a Premier League player has been caught inhaling laughing gas. In May, an unnamed player was treated by paramedics after developing an addiction to nitrous oxide.
